A little peek at my newest pieces...

If you are a fan of my Facebook Page you might have already seen some of these but here is a little peek at some of the newest pieces I have been working on, what do you think? This is one of the projects I am currently working on, a little venture into the world of abstract. I’m very much enjoying these new experiments, I have at least two more of these planned, they will be a bit larger so that should be interesting.

This week is going to be full of studio time, loads of painting to do! I’m looking forward to having a very productive week :D I have found that spending multiple days in the studio leads to interesting explorations, it also makes me way more productive then when I only have a a couple of hours here and there. Having to break out of my studio work to do something unrelated, even for an hour, works very distracting. I prefer to spend a couple of hours in the morning doing all my social media stuff and emails and then head into the studio until 5 or 6pm. I am most productive when I spend multiple days in a row in the studio but unfortunately there are many other things an artist has to take care of so this isn’s always the case. This upcoming week however looks to be one of those rare weeks where I get to spend every single day in the studio, no appointments, no other obligations, just me and my paints, in the studio for the entire week! :D Looking forward to it!

Before I leave you and head into the studio I want to let you know that the RAW event I was going to be a part of in April had a date change that conflicted with a previous engagement so my participation has been rescheduled for the RAW Artist Showcase that will be taking place on June 18th, also at the Rialto Theater in Montreal. I don’t think any of my tickets were sold yet but if you did buy a ticket and you would like to change it to a ticket for the June 18th show please send me an email and I will take care of it. If you want to make sure you get your hands on one of the 20 tickets I have for sale for this event in June you can buy them now. Tickets will be $15 and you can order them by following this link.

A new Video Blog and other stuff...

I know, I know, there was no blog update last week, there should have been but I was in Mont Tremblant for a couple of days, enjoying the beautiful snow we’ve been having and when I came back I was so busy taping and editing new episodes of my vlog that somehow my blog post kind of didn’t make it, sorry!

Anyhow, back to it now :) This is going to be a good week! This morning I opened up a nice big box with new art supplies! Lovely band new bottles of paint and medium, I even got some of the Golden high flow acrylics to experiment with :) I just love getting new supplies, it makes me all excited to get back into the studio! Something that will definitely happen later this week!

I’m currently working on a couple of abstract pieces which is very exciting and I still have two of the large pouring pieces to finish as well so plenty to do there!

I also wanted to remind you about the upcoming RAW Artist Showcase in April that I am going to be a part of. The Showcase, which is titled ‘Spectrum’ will take place on April 24th 2014 from 7-11:30 PM at the Rialto Theater in Montreal. Tickets will be $15, I will have a limited amount of tickets available so if you are interested in attending let me know. What can you expect when attending a RAW Showcase? You'll experience an independent film (usually a short, webisode or music video), a fashion show from an up-and-coming local designer, a musical performance, an art gallery featuring several independent visual artists and photographers, and performance art (comedy/dance/fire dancers, you name it...). You'll get a little taste of everything. Combine all this creativity with drinks, fun, and good company!

And of course my new Vlog is out today! In this third episode of Creative Ramblings I’m talking about the things that have been keeping me from doing work in the studio :) It’s all part of being an artist :) I hope you guys are enjoying my vlogs, please share and subscribe! Have a great week!

What a great week!

It has been an interesting week filled with possibilities! On Wednesday I was part of the Creative Connections event that was organized by YES Montreal. They invited 31 artists and 14 local businesses to connect and share information. Every artist was required to introduce themselves with  an elevator pitch which was very scary but also very useful because this is a skill we don;t get to practice enough. We were all very nervous but I think everyone did an amazing job! I was very happy to be in the first group and even happier not to be the first to have to go up there :) After introducing ourselves every artist was paired with three businesses, we had 10 minutes to present ourselves and our work to them. I was paired with a publisher, a gallery and an art boutique which was really awesome! I had some great chats and I think some of them might lead to business opportunities in the future. Afterwards there was free networking where even more business people were present. It was really an awesome event! I met so many great artists and have already exchanged loads of useful information with several of them. It is super nice to have some new likeminded people in my network! :)

Since I had to go to downtown for the Creative Connections event I treated myself to a trip to the Fine Art Museum to see the Peter Doig exhibit, a beautiful show definitely worth seeing! I loved the interesting mix between figurative and abstract and the way Doig uses his materials is creates very interesting shapes and textures. Most of his pieces are large so stepping into the exhibit spaces is quite overwhelming. This is a show where you definitely want to take some time with each piece to really enjoy all that is happening on the canvas.

I also got the news that I have been accepted to be part of an upcoming RAW Artist Showcase. RAW:natural born artists is an independent arts organization, for artists, by artists. They're an international community made up of creative individuals across the globe. Their mission is to provide independent artists within the first 10 years of their career with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity. They welcome all genres of art including independent film, fashion, music, visual art, performing art, hairstylists, makeup artists and more. They encourage the creative success of the many visionaries and storytellers of our generation. RAW currently operates in nearly 60 cities across the United States, Australia, Canada and, now London!

In this second episode of Creative Ramblings I’ll show you how to work with pouring medium. You can check it out at the bottom of this page!
